K-T Notes
Inform each Kiwanian in the K-T District of the issues before the district, and Kiwanis International, and the noteworthy actions of the district, divisions, and clubs.
Send an article and/or a photograph for publication in K-T Notes. K-T Notes is published every other month and is the official publication of the Kentucky-Tennessee District. The editor, Fred Troutman, always welcomes news from clubs in the district and will use everything that space permits.
Send brief information on club activities that would be of general interest . When possible, include pictures. The article will be edited only in the interest of space when necessary. Pictures should be small, black and white, and glossy. All material must be typed or printed, and be legible. Newspaper clippings are not reproducible in the K-T Notes.
Articles should be in the hands of the Editor by January 15 for the February issue, March 15 for the April issue, May 15 for the June issue, September 15 for the October issue, November 15 for the December issue.

K-T Web Site
Send an article and/or a photograph for placement on the Kentucky-Tennessee District web site. The web page coordinator, Glen Kleine, welcomes club and district news. Since there is no publication date changes can be made at any time. There is no limitation regarding size of photo and color photos are preferred. It is also preferred that stories and photographs be send by email Glen Kleine at kleine@chpl.net
Division Information Correspondent
Each division will have a Divisiion Information Correspondent appointed by the Lieutenant Governor. Divisiion Information Correspondent must be computer proficient with e-mail including attachments and have access to facilities to capture photographs in an electronic (jpeg) format. The Divisiion Information Correspondentwill transmit stories and photographs to both the K-T Notes editor at: ftroutman@fewpb.net and to the K-T web site manager at: Kleine@chpl.net.
Information to be published in the K-T Notes shall include but is not limited to the following:
1. Monthly club report summaries for each club in the district inform members about their own clubs performance in the District (DISTRICT Secretary)
2. Communicate to all members the actions of the Board of Trustees as required by District Bylaws (DISTRICT Secretary)
3. Pictures from every division in each issue - Governor's Official Visit to each division should build the initial stockpile of worthwhile articles and pictures
4. Mid-year Conference and Convention registrations will be published twice in the K-T Notes beginning in November and May, respectively (Administrative Secretary)
5. Schedules of all district and division training opportunities will be published in the May September issues including Lieutenant Governors-Designate Operations Training Conference, Club Leadership Event (CLE)
6. Monthly INCITER recommendations (Committee on Administration)
7. Club Energy Level Evaluation forms (semiannual October, April) (ADM)
8. Pictures of Lieutenant Governors-Designate (June) from the Operations Training Conference (EDU)
9. Pictures of Lieutenant Governors-Elect (April) (District Secretary)
10. Articles on the Objects of Kiwanis (each month) (Human and Spiritual Values Committee)
11. Each committee chair/administrator shall submit one article for publication in October Goals and one for publication in March Up Date/Progress
12. Lieutenant Governors shall submit a brief article every two months beginning in August 2003 for publication in October from the following categories
a significant division event, significant club(s) activities, or a distinguished/recognized Kiwanian
Recommendation two or more articles from each category during the year
13. Coverage of Mid-Year Conference, Lieutenant Governors-Designate Operations Training Conference
(June), International Convention (August), and District Convention (October)
14. List of scheduled division events including Division Council meetings, Charter Nights, etc. DEADLINE: 60 days before the event
15. Publication of statement by candidates for the office of Governor-Elect in the June issue
16. Monthly columns by the Governor, and District Secretary/Treasurer
17. Quarterly column by Governor-elect on (1) membership growth and (2) ON TO CONVENTION
18. List of new member adds, and sponsors each month (DISTRICT Secretary)
19. List of memorials each month (DISTRICT Secretary)
20. All clubs shall be encouraged to submit articles including photographs throughout the year for inclusion in the K-T Notes.
Submit Stories to Local Media
The articles and photographs that you send for K-T Notes and for the K-T Web Site should also be sent to your local media. Call in advance to see how they want stories and photographs to be submitted. Most will prefer that you send stories, and some will also prefer photos, to be submitted by email. Most media will want high quality prints (usually 150 pixels per inch). If that is confusing take your pictures to the newspaper. If you don't have photographs simple email will suffice.
Publish a Club Bulletin - Enter the "Best Bulletin" Competition
One of the best ways to keep interest up in your club is to regularly publish a club bulletin. In order to encourage this the K-T District has a club bulletin competition. For additional information about the club bulletin contest - and other contests - click here.
