1063 individuals representing both Kiwanis club members, as well as individuals honored with Hixson recognition, represent support of the Kiwanis International Foundation in excess of $1 million.

The Kiwanis Club of Chattanooga with 61 fellows and the Kiwanis Club of Brainerd, Chattanooga with 46 fellows are the two Kiwanis clubs with the most Hixson Fellows. Combined, Chattanooga Kiwanians make up more than 10 per cent of all Hixson Fellows in the Kentucky-Tennessee District

There are currently 161 Kiwanis clubs in the Kentucky-Tennessee District of Kiwanis International. There are average number of six Hixson Fellows per club.

The Kiwanis International Foundation Board of Trustees created the George F. Hixson Fellowship in 1983 to honor the first Kiwanis International President. Hixson, who served from 1916 to 1918, holds the distinction of being the only leader to serve two terms as Kiwanis International President. Overall, his record accounts for more than 50 years of dedication to Kiwanis service.

Individuals establish membership through a $1,000 contribution. New George F. Hixson Fellowship members receive two numbered medallions bearing the likeness of Hixson. Both hang from a blue and white ribbon. One is encased in a walnut and velvet shadow box for display, and the other is worn at formal Kiwanis functions. Also awarded is a tie tack/lapel pin.

Diamond-level status is attained by Hixson Fellows who make additional $1,000 contributions. Diamond recipients receive a diamond tie tack/lapel pin, and a tab that indicates what level of giving has been achieved. The tab attaches to the lapel pin, and a diamond pin is provided to affix to the medallion's ribbon. A new tab is given for every additional $1,000 contribution.

Funds received for a Hixson Fellowship can be designated for one of two programs: the Kiwanis International Foundation Endowment, or the Kiwanis International Worldwide Service Project. During the past decade, the Kiwanis family collected more than $75 million, which allowed nations to implement salt-iodization programs. Worldwide, IDD rates declined significantly. Kiwanis currently has a goal to collect a minimum $3 million in net contributions to build on and sustain this success.

At the September 28, 2004 Installation Dinner for the Tullahoma Kiwanis Club Lt. Governor Darrell Drinkall awarded five new Geoirge F. Hixson Fellowships plus one diamond Hixson to the Club as part of the installation dinner. The five newly installed officers for the 2004/2005 year are Hixson fellows. They are: (left to right) Charles Cox, President Elect; Bob Barksdale, Treasurer (continued service); Wolfgang Roeder, President; Kevin Mullins, Secretary (continued service) and Lynn Cooper, Immediate Past President.
