CLUB PROJECTS

Beattyville, KY - Relay for Life fundraiser (selling Breast Cancer Awareness bracelets), Relay for Life Team, 911 demonstration. ($800) Scholarship applications sent out, preparing for All Sports Banquet, Project Prom (valet parking, meal preparation, assist with events) ($350). Relay for Life Team ($1200 ). Inquiring about loaning set of bleachers to Little League Park.

Berea, KY - Picked up trash on two miles of highway. Contributed $150 to the Berea Middle School Celebration of Success. Berea Newspaper advertisement for spiritual values ($12.50).

Clark County, KY - Club responded to request from Red Cross for volunteers. Gave $50 to George Rogers Clark H.S. Project Graduation. Provided four Sunday school teachers. Volunteered and contributed $100 to the AA Pregnancy Center.

Fleming County, KY - Conducted a pancake breakfast as part of the Flemingsburg Founder's Day Celebration ($300). Repainted the sign on the Kiwanis Little League Ball Field ($45). Bingo at Senior Citizens Home ($85) Conducted Easter Egg Hunt for Young Children ($400.)

Irvine-Ravenna, KY - Toured and contributed $100 to a new day care center in the community. Matched the money ($100) the Key Club made at their car wash to donate to Marcum-Wallace Hospital to paint a room in their new additional under construction. Held a prayer breakfast for local pastors (Cost $50) Three members read to three pre-school classes in elementary schools. Club attended presentation at the Richmond Kiwanis Club by Irvine Club member Kelly Wallingford. Published monthly newsletter. Included in it was the Mushroom Festival Report with float contest winners and raffle winners listed. $1,874,46 earned at the Kiwanis Refreshment Stand and $315 received in contributions.

Jackson County, KY - Worked four nights a week with Little League and concession stand. Cleaned Kiwanis Park, planted grass at shelter, put up flags at the park ($500). Started Little League T-Ball and Minor League - Built a new batting pen at the park ($300) Introduced the Bees and Bugs Program to Fourth Graders at the McKee Elementary School ($100).

Morehead, KY - No Report

Mt. Sterling, KY - Assisted at Community Holy Week Services. Contibuted $50 to the Lions Club Follies. Bought shoes for needy children and contributed to the Key Club ($540). Distributed magazines and flowers to both the hospitals and the nursing homes. Contributed to the American Kidney Foundation, supplied blankets to new born babies and contributed to Kiwanis International Foundation ($230). According to the Sterling Builder, the weekly newsletter published by the club, On April 1 they inducted 7 new members. The club has been conducting "The Friday Thing." This is an informal luncheon each Friday at different restaurants in the community. During the past month they have gone to Ms. Lottie's, to Pizza Hut, to the Truck Stop at exit 113 and to El Camino Mexican Restaurant.

Owingsville, KY - Sponsored Leadership Dinner and Forum for Bath County ($850) Donated $1,000 to the Bath County Relay for Life, Provided $200 donation to fire victims, Donated $100 to the May Day Committee. Donated $50 to the Bath County Library. Provided Nursing Home Visits, Provided radio spots on volunteerism and church attendance. Donated $300 to the After Prom Party. Donated $50 to the Salt Lick Elementary School for the Good Behavior Room.

Powell County, KY - No Report

Richmond, KY - Contributed $1,000 to the Telford YMCA Capital Expansion Campaign. Supported the Educational Talent Search at EKU with a $500 check. Published nespaper ad encouraging church attendance at the church of choice ($24). Gave away four car seats along with instructions on use to indigent families ($160).

Winchester, KY - The club competed the Buck-a-Month project

Wolfe County, KY - Attended Good Friday and Eastern Sunrise Services as a group of Kiwanians, Conducted Easter Egg Hunt for the community.
