
Beattyville, KY - Provided two $500 scholarships and sponsored the Snow King and Queen project ($100). Provided 120 Christmas treats ($200) to Mt. Carmel school children and gave $100 to the Foster Children Program. Signed a contract with Casey Rides for Homecoming in August. Developed an on-line reporting system for Division Nine. Attended basketball games as a group and visited the sick. Paid $10,000 toward the loan that resulted in the building of the Happy Top Kiwanis Park in Beattyville.
Berea, KY - Provided $300 to the Berea Food Bank, donated $300 to Habitat for Humanity, and bought $200 of children's clothes for needy children.
Clark County, KY - Provided drivers for the handicapped. Club responded to request from Red Cross for volunteers. Engaged in community education. Provided milk and diapers for the AA Pregnancy Center ($100.) Sponsored Project Happiness ($300). Provided direction for the Junior Miss Program.
Fleming County, KY- Provided donations to 14 house fire victims ($700), Provided nativity scene for the community and provided a community Christmas for 300 needy children ($375) Provided a program for Future Teachers of America at Fleming County High School ($110), Provided bingo for two months for 36 residents of the nursing home ($190 in prices for the two-month period). Purchased clothes for 8 needy children ($181).
Irvine-Ravenna, KY - Provided a contribution to Estill Allowance ($200) and assisted student to participate in Kentucky Musical ambassadors to Europe ($50). Improvements were made on lights on the third little league field. Provided an annual gift of $500 to the Irvine-Ravenna Women's Club to assist them with the Elizabeth Witt Christmas Program. Clothing, toys and Christmas treats were delivered to the homes of 40 needy children. Sponsored the Christmas Parade with the first place prize going to the Rice Station Christian Church ($1,500) Santa and three club members red to 325 pre-school children after the Christmas parade and during the month of January. Each child received a book and a treat ($375). The Irvine-Ravenna Kiwanis Bulletin was published announcing the activities of the club for and February and the Committee Assignments for 2003-2004.
Jackson County, KY - Worked with the McKee Baptist Church to make fruit baskets for less fortunate families in Jackson County. ($150). Joined with PRTC to contribute 30 free calling cards to basketball team traveling to Florida to call their families during the holidays. Also donated $10 for every three-point shot during the season (115 to date) ($1,450).
Morehead, KY - The Morehead Club are in discussion about discontinuing their club and returning their charter.
Mt. Sterling, KY - Operation Happiness provided food baskets to 310 needy families and 914 individuals. ($525). Supplied blankets to needy families and contributed to Memoria Fund ($325). Bought shoes and gifts for needy children ($730). Distributed magazines to hospitals and nursing homes ($6). Held a Santa Booth which provided photos with Santa to children. Provided clothing and toys through the "Angel Tree" program. Contributed to the Kiwanis International Foundation ($110). Supplied blankets for Project Warm Up. ($535 for above projects). Held Annual Banquet on December 9. Carles Comer selected at the Kiwanian of the Year, Three copies of The Sterling Builder were published during the month. One issue listed the officers, directors and committee members, Past Kiwanians of the Year, Past Presidents. Another issue listed the entire membership and their contact information.
Owingsville, KY - Hosted a Christmas community sing in Bath County ($50). Aired weekly radio spots for church , for volunteerism, and for nursing home visitation. Provided Christmas Caroling at three nursing homes. Provided a $100 donation to "Doves for Children." Provided an $80 donation of diapers and pull-ups for toddlers and babies to "Doves for Children." In January the club donated $200 to 6 fire victims.
Powell County, KY - Planning to sponsor a community bash to kick off this year's Relay for Life activities.
Richmond, KY - Jointly sponsored with the YMCA a Christmas party for five special families ($2,000). Provided individuals to deliver Meals-On-Wheels to senior citizens ($300). Supported Model High School Project Graduation and the Richmond Little League ($450). Paid for sponsorship of YMCA Youth Basketball Team and provided Savings Bond for outstanding 4-H student. ($550) Placed advertisement in the local newspaper encouraging church attendance. Supported Habitat for Humanity ($500). Distributed magazines to local hospitals. Served as Salvation Army Bell Ringers ($300). Spent $1,040 to provide sixteen infant car seats to new parents and supported the YMCA Outreach Program. Three issues of the Kiwanis Club of Richmond Bulletin were published during the month.
Winchester, KY - In December the club completed a Buck-A-Month project ($26) and read to 379 children during their Story Line project. ($50.79) In January Winchester was having some difficulty reporting their activities on line. This will be updated once that problem is fixed.
Wolfe County, KY - Sponsored the High Falls Music Group, also the Gloria Maddox Singing group, and sponsored Sister Noreen a Missionary in Papua New Guinea
