
CLUB PROJECTS Following are some of the club projects
that were reported in the May club reports:
Franklin County held in school banking at Clark Memorial School; held plant sale; funded Girls and Boys State Delegates ($450); donated $4000 in scholarships to Huntland HS and Franklin County HS.
Highland Rim held fund-raiser.
Manchester collected alum cans for Habitat; donated $40 to Good Samaritan; tutored at Hickerson Elementary; donated $50 to Hickerson Ele., lunches for seniors reading program; donated $200 to Laws of Life Essay Contest and helped judge; collected for IDD; gave $500 scholarship to CCCHS; trained Key Club officers.
Murfreesboro funded scholarship ($500) to MTSU; donated $400 to Murfreesboro Youth Orchestra.
Stones River/Oaklands played bingo at VA; donated $500 for playground equipment; donated $50 to Holloway Harbor; gave two $2000 scholarships to MTSU; gave $500 scholarship to Oakland HS.
Tullahoma tutored at Hickerson Elementary; donated $25 to Christian Children's Fund; donated $100 to Lannom Library; donated $20 to St. Jude Children's Hospital; provided security for Project Graduation; flew flags for return of Tullahoma National Guard from Iraq and for Memorial Day; held annual Prayer Breakfast; provided 3 scholarships to THS Key Club members; gave to Kiwanis "skip-a-meal".
Warren County collected supplies for National Guard unit deploying overseas; trained Key Club officers.
White County gave $500 scholarship to outstanding Key Club member; donated ultrasounds to needy mothers.
District Convention The K-T District Convention will be August 15-17 in Clarksville. Be sure to register by July 13th to get the early bird rates. Registration is $100. This promises to be a very good convention. There will also be a rodeo on opening night. This is a project of the Clarksville club and all convention attendees are invited to be their guests. Book your reservation at either the Riverview Inn or the Country Inn & Suites. Most of the convention will be taking place at the Morgan Center on the campus of Austin Peay State University. See you there.
Key Club News Dena Ashworth, new Key Club Lt. Gov
for Div 1, will be speaking at the Tullahoma Kiwanis Club on Tuesday,
June 22, at 6:00 p.m. at the Western Sizzlin Restaurant on Jackson
St. Several clubs are bringing Key Club officers for the coming
year to hear and meet her. This would be a great time to have
an interclub and bring Key Clubbers with you. Be sure to let Lynn
or Kevin know if you are coming. See you there.
Distinguished Clubs The year is roughly two thirds
of the way done. How does your club stand in making a goal of
being distinguished for the year? It 's not too late. Be sure
that your attendance goals are being met, that your service projects
are being done and that your training and reports are being done
on time. Make it happen.
CLE Training The Club Leadership Training for new club presidents and secretaries will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2004 at the Manchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church beginning at 8:30 a.m. The training will conclude by 3:30 p.m. The cost is $5.00 a person and will cover refreshments and lunch. Mark your calendars now for this very important training. Each club president and secretary is required to take this training.
89TH Annual Kiwanis International Convention It's
just around the corner. Several from our Division are attending
the 89th Kiwanis International Convention in St. Louis on June
26-29, 2004. St. Louis is close enough to drive. Hope to see you
there. Next year the convention will be in Hawaii. So be thinking
about taking that dream vacation then.
