KT Division 1E - January, 2004 Newsletter

CLUB PROJECTS - Following are some of the club projects that were reported:

Franklin County - held in-school banking at Clark Memorial school; bought $1000 in Christmas presents for needy children of Franklin County ; donated water fountain to Oak Grove Head Start.

Highland Rim - donated $300 for Christmas for needy family; donated $500 to provide clothes & heaters for needy family; donated $230 for books for single mother at Motlow; provided Christmas for Tullahoma Head Start..

Manchester - donated $50 to library; collected alum cans for Habitat; donated $40 and worked at Good Samaritan; donated $250 to Haven of Hope; tutored at Hickerson Elementary; with Key Club held Santa Calling for young kids; donated books to Noah Head Start students; donated $300 for Christmas for needy Habitat family.

Murfreesboro - distributed magazines to VA Hospital; held annual Christmas party for children at Good Shepherd's Christian Home and gave $100 to each of 12 children.

Stones River/Oaklands - played Bingo at VA; held Christmas party at Halloway Harbor; completed requirements for new Key Club at Seegal High School.

Tullahoma - donated $200 to Horse Play; tutored at Hickerson Elementary; donated $25 to Christian Children's Fund; donated $500 to Tullahoma Day Care; donated to Trinity Day Care, Haven of Hope, Contact Lifeline, & Inman Home for Girls; completed annual Christmas Tree sale fund raiser.

Warren County - held Community Christmas Party for needy children; bought presents for Key Club Foster Children; held Christmas party for Head Start children.

White County - bought Christmas presents for underprivileged children; donated ultrasounds for expectant mothers at crisis pregnancy center.

Division Council Meeting - The next Division Council Meeting will be Tuesday, January 20, at 6:00 p.m. with the Tullahoma Club at Western Sizzlin, 630 N. Jackson. The program will be of interest to all clubs in our division. We will have Robin Matlock as our speaker. She is involved as an audiologist and woks with hearing impaired people. She will give us an insight into possible programs that your club could be involved with. Be sure to attend this Division Council Meeting and bring an interclub. Please let Kevin Mullins know how many are attending from your club. His work # is 931-455-3646. See you at the Division Council meeting.

Mid-Year Conference - The K-T District Kiwanis Mid-Year Conference will be March 5-7, 2004 at the Four Points Sheraton in Lexington, KY. There is an early bird special registration of only $88 (including meals) for those who register before February 8. Don't wait; register now. This is a great time to renew friendships with fellow District Kiwanians and to keep up with how the district is doing. You can also take advantage of several educational opportunities. See you at the Mid-Year Conference.

89TH Annual Kiwanis International Convention - It's not too early to be thinking about attending the 89th Kiwanis International Convention in St. Louis on June 26-29, 2004. St. Louis is close enough to drive. So now is the time to start getting your car pool together. And you don't want to miss Willie Nelson performing on Sunday night. Next year the convention will be in Hawaii. So be thinking about taking that dream vacation then.

Kiwanis License Plates - Now is the time to send in your request for a Tennessee Kiwanis license plate. Don't delay. You must turn in your request with a check for $35 payable to K-T District Kiwanis to Bo Shafer, 1100 Marion St., Suite 100, Knoxville, TN 37921 by December 1. Support your K-T District. We need your help now! Go to the KTKiwanis web site and click on License Plate Project. You can download the form to send with your money.
