Past Lt. Gov Ron Martin - Past Lt. Gov. Ron Martin experienced a heart attack while attending a conference workshop in Gatlinburg and died at the hospital. Services were conducted on November 23 in McMinnville. Ron had been a member of the Warren County Kiwanis Club since 1986. Ron was a Certified Trainer for Kiwanis for a number of years and taught CLE classes at the District and Division levels. He was a former Superintendent of Warren County Schools. He had been the head of the Adult Education Program in Warren County for a number of years. Ron was instrumental in establishing several Kiwanis clubs in our Division, the most recent one being the Franklin County Club. We will all truly miss Ron. You may send condolences or memorials to his wife Carolyn, 4200 Crisp Springs Rd., McMinnville, TN 37110.
Division Council Meeting - The next Division Council Meeting will be Tuesday, January 20, at 6:00 p.m. with the Tullahoma Club at Western Sizzlin, 630 N. Jackson. The program will be of interest to all clubs in our division. We will have a person who is involved with hearing problems and she will give us an insight into possible programs that your club could be involved with. Be sure to attend this Division Council Meeting and bring an interclub. Please let Kevin Mullins know how many are attending from your club. His work # is 931-455-3646. I will have more information in my next newsletter, but make your plans now to attend.
Holiday Activities - Now is the time when most Kiwanis clubs are busy with fund-raising projects as well as service projects. The Manchester Kiwanis Club recently held their annual high school basketball tournament. The Murfreesboro Club held their annual horse show. The Highland Rim Club had a BBQ Rib sale. The Tullahoma Club is selling Christmas Trees. Other clubs may also be doing fund raising, but we all are doing those activities that make us proud to be Kiwanians. Whether it is tutoring children, reading to children, visiting VA Hospitals, donating food for the hungry, ringing the bells for Salvation Army, donating ultrasounds for expectant mothers, working with Builders Clubs and Key Clubs, donating money to St. Jude's or Haven of Hope or Alzheimer's or Habitat or other worthwhile organizations, remember the reason for the season. We are all blessed to live in a country such as ours, to have the freedom to worship and to do as we please. Do not take these things for granted. Be thankful each day for each day and give of your time and money so that others may experience the same. MERRY CHRISTMAS!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
