KT Division 1E - July, 2003 Newsletter


CLUB PROJECTS - Following are some of the club projects that were reported in the June club reports:

Franklin County - worked 1st Summer Music Project; donated $200 to Old Jail Museum; donated $100 to Am Heart Assoc; donated $100 to MDA; donated items to DCS for children; donated to Foster Children for party.

Highland Rim - helped Citizens for Homeless Relief by working food booth at air show; donated $500 to Moore Cares to help children w/school supplies, clothes, & hygiene items; donated & took books to Kiwanis Intl Conv.

Manchester - Donated $40 to Good Samaritan; collected alum cans for Habitat; collected for IDD; donated books and took to Kiwanis Intl Convention.

Murfreesboro - distributed magazines to VA hospital; donated books and took to Kiwanis Intl Convention; gave $500 for MTSU Agriculture scholarship.

Stones River/Oaklands - sponsored VA Bingo for veterans; sending Key Clubbers to Intl Convention; donated score boards for T Ball fields; run the girls little league during the summer.

Tullahoma - Donated $25 to Christian Children's Fund; donated books & took to Kiwanis Intl Convention; flew flags on Flag Day; hosted Kiwanis family from Czech Republic & took on interclub.

Warren County - donated puzzles and books to nursing home; gave scholarship to WCHS Key Clubber.

White County - assisted White Co Community Hospital golf tournament; donated ultrasounds for two prospective mother thru Crisis Pregnancy Center.

K-T District Convention - Now is the time to register for the K-T District Convention in Owensboro, KY on August 22-24, 2003. You can find registration forms on page 9 of the latest K-T Notes. Or you can register on line at www.KYKiwanis.info. Each club can have up to 3 delegates, two of whom shall be the president and president-elect. Delegate forms must be mailed to district headquarters by July 25. Make your reservations at the Executive Inn Rivermont by calling 1-800-626-1936. Room rate is $72.00. Room reservations must be made by August 5, 2003.

Crafts are wanted for auction for the District Foundation Fund. Bring any contributions with you to the Hospitality Room. All clubs are asked to submit pictures and stories of youth service projects. This information will be on display to be shared by all clubs in the District. Send materials to: Tom Bonny, 1548 Wisemantown Rd, Irvine, KY 40336 or email to thb@irvineonline.net by August 1.

Please submit names and photos of members who have died during this year to the District Office for the memorial service.

Kiwanis International Convention - Those attending the Kiwanis International Convention in Indianapolis last week had a great time. Attending from our division are: Glen Mertz and Luz Vallejo from Highland Rim, Bob Brinkmann and myself from Manchester, Dillard Lester from Murfreesboro, and Esther Sims from Tullahoma. Our division was represented with a display at the World Service Fair with the Tullahoma Club service project with Hickerson Elementary. Items of interest: Herman Bowers did not get elected Trustee; the $15 annual dues increase passed; dues for third world countries are now prorated according to the GNI per capita of those nations; Bob Moore is our Pres-Designate; Case Van Kleef is our Pres-Elect; and Steve Siemens is our V Pres/Treasurer.

Books for Children - Spearheaded by Stones River/Oaklands, Division 1E donated 800 books out of the 10,000 that were donated to the Crystal House by Kiwanians around the world. Again thanks to all who contributed.
