Minutes of August 24, 2003 Meeting

Presiding: Governor Asa O. Bishop, Jr.
Special Guest: Dana Cable, International Trustee
Charles E. Ridenour was the Parliamentarian and David McCollugh was in charge of the Sergeants-at-Arms.

Convention Registration Committee: Jan Larson reported that there were 319 Kiwanians registered and 110 partners or guests for a total of 429 present at this year's convention.

Credentials Committee: Lairy Nofsinger reported that 98 clubs were represented with 206 delegates. There were 25 delegates-at-large for a total of 231 delegates.

District Secretary/Treasurer Fran Marion presented the Amended By-Laws with Amendments. The Amendments were approved with one person voting no. The Bylaws as amended were approved.

The Proposed Budget with the Finance Committee's recommended change of Total Dues raised to $131,520 and Total Receipts to $158,520 and a line added to statement ­ Excess of Revenue Over Expenses $3,000 was approved.

Five resolutions for the following: Dana Cable, Sherrie Hagan, Kiwanis Club of Owensboro and Division 17, Paul R. Cook, and the KY-TN District Foundation's Resolution for the Hearing Impaired were adopted.

 

Nominated for Governor was B. Wayne Sullivan and nominated for Governor-elect was C. D. Reese. They both were elected by acclamation. Governor Asa Bishop cast the one vote for B. Wayne Sullivan for Governor and District Secretary/Treasurer Fran Marion cast the one vote for C. D. Reese for Governor-Elect of the K-T District for 2003-2004.

A motion was made from the floor to send Herman Bowers to the 2004 International Convention in St. Louis as a candidate for International Trustee. Motion was approved.

Immediate Past Governor Kenneth Clawson came forward to install the 2003-04 District Officers. H first presented Governor Asa the past governor's pin and plaque. He then recognized the 2002-03 Lt. Governors who were going off the Board on September 30. Governor Bishop presented the 2002-03 Lt. Governors present with past Lt. Governor pins. Lt. Governors for 2003-04 were then installed. District Secretary/Treasurer Fran Marion was then installed. New Governor-elect C. D. Reese was installed. Then B. Wayne Sullivan was officially installed as Governor and gave his remarks.

After the changing of the banner, Governor Bishop gave a few closing remarks. The convention was closed with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne" and the sounding of the gong.
