The nineteen official visits have been completed! It was a pleasure and privilege to meet with each of you. The KY-TN Kiwanis Family is providing much needed service to our communities as evidenced by the "best practices" for service projects and fundraising for each club.
The Mid-Year conference was a tremendous success with over 180 participants. In addition to our distinguished KY-TN Kiwanians and spouses, we were honored to have International President Dave Curry and Eva join us for the entire weekend, including the 5K Walk on Saturday afternoon. Also, our International Trustee, Webster James, the Circle K International Trustee, Alan Penn and Jeri, and the Ohio District Governor, Leroy Martin and Marge were in attendance.
The KY-TN Circle K Convention met in conjunction with our conference. Robert Vande Rieviere, Past Governor of Belgium-Luxembourg District, Candidate for International Trustee, visited our District from February 24-27th. He was unable to come to the Mid-Year meeting but did visit several clubs in our District.
President Dave gave a very inspirational message to us on Friday evening challenging us to share our Kiwanis story with others and to continue to provide the services needed in our communities. The entertainment on Friday night was provided by the Uniqueness Unlimited Modeling Troupe. Our daughter, Joslyn, also a Kiwanian, was one of the models.
On Saturday, Jan Larson provided a great CLE training for over 20 club presidents and secretaries. We had a very interesting General Session and Roundtables in the morning and excellent workshops in the afternoon.
The First Lady's "Reading for Diversity" project is showing much progress. Patches were awarded to several clubs that have reported projects in their clubs. Please continue to report your "Diversity" reading projects to the Lt. Governors, the District Office and the First Lady. Additional patches will be awarded at the District meeting in Kingsport. The "Reading for Diversity Basket of Books" raised funds for the KY-TN Foundation.
Two new clubs have been established n the District, one in Carlisle, KY and one in Smithville, TN.
We had reports on new K-Kids Clubs, Builders Clubs, and Key Clubs.
Circle K reported a charter for a new club at LMU in Harrogate, TN, and the interest for a new Circle K Club at KY Wesleyan at Owensboro, KY.
As you can see, we are moving forward, but a lot of work is
still to be done to meet the 2007-08 goals of:
--- increased membership by 25%;
--- retention at no less than 87%;
--- increased service hours by 10%;
--- adding three new Circle K Clubs,
--- five new Key Clubs,
--- five new Builders Clubs,
--- ten new K-Kids Clubs;
--- and seven new Kiwanis clubs.
The Kiwanis One Service Project Day for the entire Kiwanis International Family is Saturday, April 5th. Each club is to participate in a service project on that day. Please report your Kiwanis One project!!!!
