Greetings! Betty and I are delighted to begin this '07-'08 journey with the members of the Kentucky-Tennessee District.

As we begin this journey together, we must recognize that growth is an essential element for our Kiwanis clubs. We build our clubs one member at a time and we build our District one club at a time. We need to remember the three R's : RECRUIT, REVIVE, RETAIN.

The theme for 2007-08 is: Together Everyone Accomplishes More - Actively Seek Kiwanians (TEAM ASK). We continue to hear that "one can make a difference" and "together we can." Together we make a team A team for membership growth.

According to Michelangelo, "The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it." The K-T District must aim high we want to reach our goal to increase membership by 25% and have our retention at no less than 87%. I am asking for your support of our Lt Governors and Presidents in building Kiwanis in '07-'08 and for the future.

In addition to building our clubs, we must build our K-T Foundation. As the Lt. Governors visit the clubs in their Divisions they will travel with a Kiwanis Car Bank. The Bank is to be used to collect donations and/or pledges to support our K-T Foundation in its many activities.

Dave Curry, our International President encourages us to "share our Kiwanis story with each other." President Dave will join us at our Mid-Year Conference in Lexington, KY, February 22 23, 2008. He will share his story and will join us in a 5K walk. The walk will raise funds for the Kiwanis International Foundation to honor our International President. The entire K-T Kiwanis family is invited to participate.

As has been the tradition for the past few years, the First Lady has designated a project for the District. This coming year Betty encourages the continuation of the Doll project; but she also wants to add a "Reading for Diversity" project. (For additional details on the "Reading for Diversity" project click here). She will be in contact with the spouses of the Lt. Governors to initiate this project

Betty and I are looking forward to working with the great Lt Governors that you have elected as we visit the Divisions and the clubs, helping Kiwanis change the world one child and one community at a time.

Thank you again for your continued support as we make this journey as a TEAM, because Together Everyone Accomplishes More and all we have to do is ASK as we Actively Seek Kiwanians.
